Germany troll England ahead of Euro 2020 clash with reminder of Southgate’s Euro ’96 heartbreak

GERMANY have cheekily trolled England ahead of their huge Wembley showdown on Tuesday.

It’s 25 years ago today that Germany broke English hearts on home soil in Euro 96, defeating The Three Lions on penalties.

And Die Mannschaft were in celebratory mood on social media, posting snaps of that iconic day.

The post – which included a party popper emoji – includes a photo of Gareth Southgate’s infamous penalty miss.

The England boss will not want to be reminded of that fateful day and will hope his players use it as motivation on Tuesday.

And the squad are showing no signs of nerves ahead of the momentous clash.

Bukayo Saka has been showing off his golf skills while also getting nutmegged by Marcus Rashford on the pitch.

Jack Grealish and Connor Coady were also seen laughing with one another and the main man himself Southgate also looked relaxed in conversation with Chris Powell.

But unfortunately for England Chelsea pair Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell are still training alone.

The FA had hoped to find a way to reintroduce them to full training but have not come up with a solution.

Germany also look relaxed in their preparations for the knockout stages.

Joachim Low’s men enjoyed a bike ride this week and were given two days off training after drawing with Hungary on Wednesday.
