GERMANY made a tricky start to their Euro 2020 preparations as they drew 1-1 with Denmark in Austria.
Goals from Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus and RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen ensured the two nations cancelled each other out.
Germany boss Joachim Low was hoping experience would do the trick against Denmark as veterans Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels made their first international appearances since 2018.
And the manager’s plan almost worked as Joshua Kimmich found Muller in the box, only for his Bayern Munich colleague to find Leicester stopper Kasper Schmeichel with his header.
The 2014 World Cup winners had most of the possession in the first half but struggled to break their opponents down, who have also qualified for this summer’s Euros.
Germany made the breakthrough just after half-time when Neuhaus fired in from close range to score his second goal for the senior team.
But they failed to capitalise on their lead and let the Danes back into the the game – always a terrible idea when Christian Eriksen is wearing a red shirt.
The ex-Tottenham star played a fabulous ball to Poulsen, who kept his cool to slot it beyond Bayern skipper Manuel Neuer in the German goal.

Low’s side tried to regain the lead but failed and the game finished 1-1.
Denmark’s excellent performance will concern Group B rivals Belgium, Finland and Russia as the underdogs aim to win a second European crown.
Germany will be hoping to beat Latvia in their final warm-up game before they take on France, Portugal and Hungary in the ‘Group of Death’.
Speaking to the press after the match, Muller said: “In the second half we didn’t get into the duels that well.
“The Danes then managed to break away and so the goal fell. Our offensive actions were relatively clear.
“We didn’t get stuck into the challenges as well in the second half. Denmark were able to shake us off and got their goal.
“We had some incisive attacks and with a bit of luck, those two shots against the woodwork could have gone in.”
