Rodinei joined Internacional last year but he was prevented from facing Flamengo unless the club received a £133,000 payment.

The Brazilian was amazingly cleared to play in the match after wealthy farmer Maggi Scheffer stumped up the huge payment.

The club said: “We received a 1 million real ($185,794.18) donation from Elusmar Maggi Scheffer.

“The Colorado fan … signed an agreement that gives the club the money with no strings attached. Our sincerest thanks.”

But Rodinei made a costly mistake at the start of the second half when the 29-year-old made a late challenge on Filipe Luis.

The referee brandished a red card leaving Rodinei red faced after an extremely expensive appearance.

Flamengo went on to win the match 2-1 and moved a step closer to winning the title.

It leaves Rodinei facing a three-game suspension and he will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Premier League fans will be allowed back in stadiums for final game of THIS season at all ten matches
