JAMIE CARRAGHER claims Gary Neville is treating Manchester United like ‘a small club’ after he defended their tactics at Liverpool

United could have snatched victory late on, with both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba having chances, but seemed happy just to sit and contain the Reds and escape from Merseyside with a draw.
Both former Liverpool star Carragher and United legend Neville were in the Sky Sports box to watch the drab affair unfold on Sunday.
And tonight they provided more entertainment than the top-of-the-table showdown as they returned to our screens for Monday Night Football.
Carra insisted Jurgen Klopp’s injury-hit Reds were there for the taking, especially with their first-choice centre-halves out and midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho having to drop back and fill in.
But Neville defended his former team-mate and current United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s approach to the game.
He said: “I understood why it wasn’t a bit gung-ho and going for it – even though part of me in the game thought if they were a bit further ahead in their development, a bit further ahead in their journey and experience, they’d have gone for it. But they’re not.
“Seven weeks ago the manager was getting sacked, the players were getting booted out, Raiola was talking about Pogba… they were all over the place.”

Carragher was having none of it and he instantly hit back.
He said: “What’s this journey?
“You are talking like Manchester United are this small club.
“It’s Manchester United. You tell us they are the biggest club in the world.
“You don’t have to be a champion team to smell something in the game.”
Man City closed the gap to just two points with a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday evening.
United head to Fulham on Wednesday looking to keep top spot while Liverpool welcome Burnley to Anfield on Thursday.
