Fulham join transfer race for £5m Chelsea goal machine Ike Ugbo, 22, after shining on loan at Cercle Brugge

FULHAM have joined the £5million race for Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo after his electric loan form in Belgium.

Monaco and Genk are also being linked with the 22-year-old, who has hit 16 goals in 33 games for top-flight strugglers Cercle Brugge this season.

Goal.com suggest Sampdoria and Bologna are among the other clubs monitoring the former England Under-20 star.

Ugbo’s Chelsea contract runs out in June 2022.

And he is enjoying the finest of his FIVE loan spells over the past four years, having previously been with Barnsley, MK Dons, Scunthorpe and Dutch side Roda.

Goal say French giants Monaco are prime contenders to sign Ugbo because they bought Cercle as a satellite club four years ago and have a £5m option to buy him.

Russians Rostov are also said to fancy the Londoner after reportedly having a £3m bid rejected in January.

Likewise, Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria were thought to have made an offer in the last transfer window.

Ugbo told Goal last term: “On my first loan [at Barnsley], I didn’t feel I showed the qualities that I really had.

“I think it was just a different world for me to go out into first-team football and adapt. I don’t think that I adapted quickly enough.

“I am showing more of the qualities that I had when I played in the Under-23s [at Chelsea] and that potential that I have to push on to the next level.”
