Christian Eriksen to return to Inter Milan NEXT WEEK for medical tests after horror Euro 2020 cardiac arrest

INTER MILAN star Christian Eriksen is reportedly set to return to Italy NEXT WEEK to undergo medical tests.

The 29-year-old has been recovering in his native Denmark after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last month.

He has recently been spotted walking in the streets of Copenhagen with his family after he was fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator.

However, it has been reported that Italian football rules mean Eriksen will not be able to continue his playing career unless he has his ICD REMOVED.

Commenting on the situation, the director of the Italian FA’s technical-scientific committee Franco Braconaro said: “Right now Eriksen could not be eligible to play.

“If the player’s ICD is removed because the pathology has been resolved, he can return to Inter.”

Now, according to Sky Sports Italia via Football Italia, the ex-Tottenham playmaker is due back in Milan next week.

Eriksen is claimed to be excited by the prospect of reuniting with his team-mates after helping Inter win their first Scudetto since 2010 last season.

It has been stated that he will undergo heart examinations to determine the cause of his cardiac arrest on June 12.

After the medical tests, it will then be decided what Eriksen’s next steps are and whether he can return to the pitch.

Former Manchester United star Daley Blind, now with Ajax, has continued his playing career after being fitted with an ICD in 2019.

And he has backed Eriksen to play again, blasting those who say he should not.

The Dutchman remarked: “Look where I am today. This is why I say to everyone, ‘Leave Christian alone!’

“I felt I was ready and I felt comfortable to return once I got the green light from the doctors in the hospital and the medical staff at Ajax.

“There was no reason why I could not play at the top level again. The most important thing is that you have to feel free in your head.”
