Chelsea’s five most likely transfers after Thomas Tuchel extends contract and looks to improve team

CHELSEA fans are licking their lips at the prospect of more new signings this summer.

The Blues have just been crowned champions of Europe and are ready to attract more big names to their squad.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge while defender Thiago Silva is set to extend his west London stay.

And with new faces set to arrive this summer, Chelsea fan Simon Phillips looks at five likely transfers.

Erling Haaland

The striker position appears the most pressing with poor finishing causing some unexpected losses.

Haaland is still plausible at this point if Dortmund are given an offer they cannot refuse.

They risk losing him for much less next summer when his release clause comes into play, and his latest comments suggest he might be open to moving this summer. We shall see.

The dream for Roman Abramovich would be Harry Kane, but Tottenham trading with Chelsea is unrealistic and Kane has Man City written all over him.

Romelu Lukaku can’t be ruled out out at this stage despite him saying he is staying at Inter Milan.

Jadon Sancho

Chelsea could instead go for Jadon Sancho and stick with Kai Havertz and Timo Werner up top.

Sancho has always been admired by Chelsea, and I think if they can’t get Haaland or Lukaku, Sancho could be the marquee forward they go for.

But Manchester United looks the more likely destination for the Dortmund man as things stand.

Declan Rice

Chelsea need a natural holding midfielder to provide some protection and quality in front of the defence, especially if they use a back four next season.

Getting Declan Rice would be a very hard deal, but certainly not impossible.

West Ham want Tammy Abraham so maybe a deal could be worked out involving both players?

Raphael Varane

The 28-year-old has been linked with a Real Madrid exit this summer.

He is a world class player who would bring experience and Chelsea should go for him if he’s available.

Niklas Sule

Tuchel wants to sign a new centre back and it’s been reported that he likes Bayern Munich’s Sule.

But it all depends on whether Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger sign new contracts.

Kurt Zouma is likely to leave if that happens and Sule would be an affordable option and provide competition.
