CHELSEA are preparing to slash their asking price for Tammy Abraham.

That’s after struggling to find any clubs willing to pay £40million for the England star.

Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa have all shown an interest in snapping up the 23-year-old.

But they have made it clear they do not have the budget to meet the current valuation.

And the Blues are so keen to move Abraham on to help finance a bid for their own striker this summer they are now reluctantly having to consider reducing their demands by at least £5m.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic has left clubs in the top flight and in Europe having to balance their finances.

And that has been evident to Chelsea in their attempts to offload the forward.

For buying clubs have made it clear they are unable to put together a package which would not only meet the fee but then come up with a wage deal to tempt the player to sign.

West Ham boss David Moyes has a strong interest in trying to piece together a deal.

COMPETITION: SPOT THE BALL TO WIN A CAR AND CASH

But he openly admits they cannot compete at the current asking price.

Ideally the Hammers would want the fee lowered to around £30m.

But they know if that happened then the Gunners could follow up their own interest in the striker sidelined by Thomas Tuchel last season.
