Chelsea leading Sergio Aguero free transfer race with Man City striker ‘wanting to stay in England this summer’

CHELSEA are leading the way in the pursuit of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to reports.

The Sky Blues confirmed earlier this week that the 32-year-old Argentine will leave the Etihad when his contract expires this summer.

And now a host of Europe’s top clubs are being linked with the legendary Man City forward’s signature.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are among those who have been touted as possible options for Aguero.

But according to The Mail, it is Chelsea who are in pole position to secure his services at the end of the season.

The Blues were interested in bringing Aguero to Stamford Bridge before he joined City more than ten years ago.

And they may finally be able to get their hands on the South American goalscorer, providing they are willing to pay his £13million per year salary.

Aguero is Man City’s all-time leading scorer having netted 257 goals in 384 games for the club.

But he has featured just 13 times so far this season, scoring four times.

Despite his lack of game time City have continued to thrive and remain in contention for all four competitions this summer.

Meanwhile, Man City are being linked with a number of high-profile strikers to replace Aguero for next season.

Top of their list is Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, who has scored an incredible 33 goals in 31 games for the German side since the start of the campaign.

But if that does not come off, Pep Guardiola’s men are also rumoured to be in for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
