EDOUARD MENDY’S stunning performance against Brentford was worthy of the Ballon d’Or.
That’s according to Antonio Rudiger, who was left open-mouthed by the Chelsea keeper’s efforts in their nerve-wracking victory over the Bees.
Mendy kept out wave after wave of Brentford pressure as the hosts hit the woodwork THREE TIMES in Saturday’s late kick-off.
He even used his FACE to stop an effort from Bees skipper Pontus Jansson from point blank range.
And Blues team-mates were left to sing the stopper’s praises as they maintained their position at the top of the Premier League.
Rudiger wrote on Twitter: “Someone explain why he’s not nominated for the Ballon d’Or. What a performance… EDOUARD MENDY.”
This year’s Ballon d’Or nominations are led by the usual suspects such as previous winners Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric.
Sadio Mane has already lashed out at organisers as he demanded to know why his international team-mate Mendy wasn’t on the list.

Mendy held onto his 20th Premier League clean sheet in the nervy win in just his 38th Premier League start.
Only Petr Cech, Pepe Reina, Alisson and Roy Carroll have taken fewer starts to record the same number of shut-outs.
Chelsea match-winner Ben Chilwell admitted he was delighted to see his team-mate take home the Man of the Match award.
He said: “Mendy was superb. We see it every day in training and he is now getting the credit he deserves in these games by making big saves to get us the points.
“We showed our steel and how strong we are defensively.”
And praise continued to rain in from both bosses on the touchline.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank said: “He is a top goalkeeper, too good for us, and I said that to him. Well done to him.”
Chelsea gaffer Thomas Tuchel added: “(Mendy) was concentrated in the first half, they trouble you with long throws and set pieces.
“They created big chances and he was the key to the clean sheet.”
