Callum Hudson-Odoi told by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to seize opportunity after rejecting England U21 call-up

CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel has told Callum Hudson-Odoi he must seize his chance at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi, 20, is battling to get into the Chelsea first team but with three full caps he sees the England senior team as his rightful place.

Tuchel said: “It’s his personal decision and nothing to do with my opinion or the club’s.

“It’s about disappointment he is not nominated for the first team, but at the same time maybe did not have enough minutes to be nominated for it.

“He waits for a regular chance but he fights against Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic.

“We don’t have to feel sorry for him. Once the door is a little bit open we demand he puts his feet in between it and he makes his mark.”

Lee Carsley’s England Under-21s play Romania in a friendly in Bucharest on Friday before a Euro qualifier against Kosovo.

Carsley said: “He’s stayed at Chelsea to work on his development there. I respected that decision.”

Hudson-Odoi put his problems to one side and rented Thorpe Park in the summer as a thank you for NHS and key workers.

Tuchel said: “I am not surprised he does things like this.

“He is not happy with his situation but he never ever brings his frustration to work.”
