THERE are ‘big question marks’ over Ralf Rangnick’s ability to handle Manchester United’s superstars – according to Danny Murphy.
As the club wait for permission from Lokomotiv Moscow for the 63-year-old to arrive – Murphy has warned that the Man Utd squad ‘don’t suffer fools’.
In his column with the Daily Mail, Danny Murphy has questioned Rangnick’s experience in working with superstars the likes of which currently await him at Old Trafford.
The ex-Liverpool man said: “My main concern would be his lack of experience dealing with the biggest players with the biggest egos, and the daily pressure at a club like United.
“Schalke were probably the biggest club he’s managed previously and he left there citing exhaustion. Old Trafford is no place for a coach to be tired.”
The Red Devils squad is packed with big players and big egos.
For one thing – the United squad contains arguably the best player in the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been known to get stroppy with management if things aren’t going his way.

A turbulent relationship with Andrea Pirlo at Juventus led to his move back to Manchester.
And Paul Pogba has shown signs of being volatile in the past – a large character that previous managers have found tough to tame.
Murphy added: “Several players at Old Trafford are established global stars, a different breed perhaps to players he has worked with before.
“These guys don’t suffer fools and will challenge any coach they’re unsure of, whether directly or with whispers behind his back.
“Rangnick is not a fool, of course, but he might find himself questioned and challenged far more than he’s experienced before.”
Keeping the stars happy has been an ongoing problem for several managers at Man Utd – who head into Sunday’s matchup with league leaders Chelsea.
Although there is no question of his ability – there has already been criticism over Ronaldo’s effort when his team is without the ball.
Considering Rangnick is famous for inventing a system based on his players pressing – that may not bode well, according to Murphy.
The ex-Fulham man said: “The good thing for Rangnick is there is a lot of potential for improvement among the United squad.
“They don’t work as hard as other top teams but there isn’t any reason why they can’t.
“Jadon Sancho can learn to press like Sadio Mane does for Liverpool.
“Bruno Fernandes has the capability to contribute both defensively and offensively like Bernardo Silva does at Manchester City.
“Maybe Ronaldo is an exception, but with his ability to win matches, any coach would give him and Lionel Messi some license.
“In general, United players can run more. The coach just needs to make sure they are fit and organised enough.”
