Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, 25, undergoes heart surgery after suffering from shortness of breath

BAYERN MUNICH winger Kingsley Coman has undergone minor heart surgery, his manager Julian Nagelsmann announced on Friday.

The France international, 25, is expected to be out of action for two weeks after receiving medical attention on a heart arrhythmia.

Bayern boss Nagelsmann told the press: “Kingsley Coman underwent surgery yesterday.

“His heartbeat rhythm had a slight disturbance with a minor added beat. At times he had a slight shortage of breath.

“That’s why we opted for long-term ECG monitoring and went ahead with this procedure.

“He will be doing cardio training again on Tuesday and won’t be out of action for any more than one and a half to two weeks.”

An arrhythmia is when the heart beats with an irregular or abnormal rhythm. This could be too fast, too slow or just irregularly.

Arrhythmias occur when electrical signals that coordinate heartbeats don’t work as they should.

Some people experience irregular heartbeats, for instance, which may feel like the heart is racing or fluttering.

Many arrhythmias are harmless but, if they are particularly abnormal or result from a weak or damaged heart, can be serious.

Several footballers have undergone minor heart procedures in recent years, such as Manchester United icon Michael Carrick in 2017.

Coman has NOT been fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) heart-starting device like Inter Milan star Christian Eriksen.

The Bayern ace is one of Europe’s biggest footballers, scoring the winner in the 2020 Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

He was part of France’s squad for Euro 2016 and Euro 2020 and has already won TEN league titles with PSG, Bayern and Juventus.

Former PSG player Kingsley Coman scores only goal of Champions League final to complete historic Bayern treble
