ARSENAL’S long wait for a league victory at Anfield continues after they were schooled 4-0 by Liverpool on Saturday.
And they could have lost by more – maybe even double figures – were it not for the heroics of Aaron Ramsdale in goal.
The Arsenal keeper made a series of stunning double saves as he showed why Gareth Southgate was happy to hand him his England debut.
But his Gunners team-mates struggled to match the stopper’s performance as they found themselves overrun by a premium Reds outfit.
Here SunSport runs the rule over the inexperienced visitors after they were sent back to North London with their tails between their legs.
Aaron Ramsdale – 8
Liverpool could have been into double figures but for this man’s excellent performance. Double saves are fast becoming a trademark of the new England man…
Takehiro Tomiyasu – 5
Started brightly but soon given a torrid time by Mane down the Arsenal right. Struggled to stay in touch with Ben White inside him.

Ben White – 6
Keen to bring it out from the back and produced some accurate long-range passing. Flew in for a number of big tackles in the second half but couldn’t inspire his team-mates to raise their games.
Gabriel – 6
Arguably should have done better to defend the Alexander-Arnold free-kick headed home by Mane. Wasn’t helped by the high line Arsenal held in defence, though.
Nuno Tavares – 5
Made a shocking decision to pass it inside when he should have done the untrendy thing and knocked it clear. Jota pounced on the error for Liverpool’s second.
Bukayo Saka – 6
Had some joy with his energy and pace cutting in from the right but struggled with an end product. Showed his frustration late on in bringing down Tsimikas.
Albert Sambi Lokonga – 5
One decent shot after a pass inside from Saka but gave away possession away times in dangerous areas. Was taken off as Mikel Arteta looked for more control in the middle.
Thomas Partey – 5
Overrun in midfield and inaccurate in his passing. Questions will be raised over whether he was rushed back after sitting out Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers.
Emile Smith Rowe – 6
Full of direct running down the Arsenal left early on. What could have been a fruitful channel for the young England star was shut down by the experienced Liverpool defence.
Alexandre Lacazette – 5
A disappointing evening for one of Arsenal’s senior players. Struggled to have any sort of impact and was replaced just after the hour mark.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 5
The visiting skipper looked off the pace at Anfield tonight. Gave away the foul on Joel Matip that led to Liverpool’s first from the resulting freekick.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6
Replaced Sambi Lokonga as Arteta looked for energy in midfield. Couldn’t get to grips with the red shirts bearing down on him.
Martin Odegaard – 6
Brought on for Lacazette and showed plenty of enthusiasm despite the stacked scoreline. No real opportunity to work his magic.
Mohamed Elneny – N/A
Not given enough time to have any sort of impact.
