With all parties involved eager to complete the deal, the only thing left to sort out is the price, Football London journalist Chris Wheatley claims.

He wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga.

“As reports in Belgium have mentioned, the player wants to join #AFC with personal terms already agreed.

“Fee still yet to be agreed but optimism from all sides that a deal can be reached.”

Mikel Arteta’s side have allegedly made a £14.5 million bid for Lokonga, Sportswitness reported.

But the Lotto Park residents are holding out for £17 million, SunSport revealed earlier this month.

The Gunners fresh bid is a slight improvement on their initial offer of £13 million.

The North London club set their sights on Lokonga when it became clear their No1 target Martin Odegaard was staying at Real Madrid.

And he’s open to a transfer as-long as the club interested are bigger that his current side who finished fourth in the Belgian Pro League last season.

He said: “I will not go to a club which is inferior to Anderlecht.

“I will only leave Anderlecht if all the ingredients are there.

“Yes, I feel ready to take a step forward and rub shoulders with great players.

“But everything will depend on the proposals that will be made during this summer.”
