ARSENAL and Tottenham are reportedly locked in a five-club transfer battle for Denis Zakaria.
The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder could be heading for a £17million move this summer.
Arsenal and Spurs are reportedly set to face competition from Everton, Roma and Napoli for the highly-rated midfielder.
The Switzerland international has attracted plenty of interest this summer with a move from Germany looking increasingly likely.
Zakaria made two appearances for Switzerland at Euro 2020 including their quarter-final against Spain.
The 24-year-old was troubled by a knee injury last season and this could result in Monchengladbach accepting a lower transfer fee.
Zakaria only has one year remaining on his current contract and the German club could be ready to offload him before his deal runs out.
The defensive midfielder made 32 appearances for Monchengladbach last season scoring once.
Zakaria is reportedly stepping up his fitness levels in a bid to earn a lucrative move this summer.

With three Premier League clubs chasing his signature, Zakaria is hoping to land a big transfer.
It is not the first time the midfielder has been linked with a move to England, with Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly interested in him last year.
He was valued at £43m last year but with his contract running down clubs could be able to sign him for less than half this figure.
