JAMES RODRIGUEZ’S hopes of joining AC Milan have reportedly been dashed by the club.
Milan had previously flirted with the idea of signing the Toffees star but have been put off by his long list of injuries and high wage demands, according to Sports Witness.
Their decision to not pursue him will be a bitter blow to the Colombian who has publicly expressed his desire to move to the Serie A giants.
In a bid to accelerate the process, the 30-year-old attacker’s agent Jorge Mendes had reportedly directly offered him to Milan.
SW also claim that Mendes had even roped another client, Milan striker Rafa Leao, to put in a word for Rodriguez with the club’s hierachy.
With a move to the Rossoneri now seemingly dead in the water, the ex-Real Madrid ace will frantically be searching for somewhere else to ply his trade next season.
The former Monaco star, who scored just six times in 23 Premier League starts last season, has reportedly been told by new Toffees boss Rafa Benitez that he can leave the club.
Rodriguez has himself admitted that he’s not sure about his future at Goodison.
And during a live Twitch stream with fans a few weeks ago, he shed some light on his present situation on Merseyside.
Rodriguez said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know – I don’t know where I’m going to play.
“You know that in football and in life you don’t know anything, but all I know is that I’ve been training hard, preparing well, training for myself and that’s it.
“It’s complicated. (I will play) wherever I’m wanted. Someone has to be at a place they’re wanted.”
