TYSON FURY’S dad John feels that Deontay Wilder’s trilogy bout with the Gypsy King will ‘probably cost him his life’.
And the 57-year-old reckons that if Wilder ‘isn’t dead, he’ll be an invalid’.
John Fury sat down to chat with Boxing Social to talk all things Tyson ahead of his trilogy bout with the Bronze Bomber later this year.
He believes that Wilder’s team ‘cherry-picked’ Fury, but bit off more than they could chew in the process.
And he feels that pushing for a third bout was a mistake on their part, before making his shocking, chilling claim that Tyson will kill him in the ring.
Discussing how he felt Wilder’s team underestimated his son in the past, John said: “Like Tyson got cherry-picked with Deontay Wilder twice.
“Because if they never saw Tyson’s eye hanging off against Otto Wallin, a terrible performance, they wouldn’t have wanted the second fight.
“But they saw the Otto Wallin fight and thought, ‘Yup, Wilder can’t lose. Wilder will chin him.’
“They cherry-picked him the first time thinking, ‘He’s been out of the ring for years, he’s been abusing himself. We can’t lose.’
And they’ll get it wrong the third time. But the third time will cost him his career and his life, probably
John Fury
“But every time Tyson, when he’s in that ring, he changes his full job.
“He can look terrible in a training camp, but when he gets in that ring, he’s a different man, different animal. And they got it wrong twice.
“And they’ll get it wrong the third time. But the third time will cost him his career and his life, probably.
“If he’s not dead, he’ll be an invalid, which is a silly man. But if they want to sell their soul and put their life on the line for money, which I’m sure they will, get on with it.”
The shocking statement evokes memories of Wilder’s own horrifying claims in 2018 that he wants a ‘body on his record’.
Speaking on the Breakfast Club radio show three years ago, Wilder said: “I want a body on my record. I want one. I want one, I really do.
“That’s the Bronze Bomber, he wants one.
“I always tell people, when I’m in the ring, like I’m the Bronze Bomber. Everything about me changes.”
We built a whole facility to commit a legal homicide
Deontay Wilder
Wilder has been at it again this time around, last month threatening to ‘commit a legal homicide’ when he faces Fury again.
He said on a Premier Boxing Champions Instagram Broadcast: “My mind is very violent. We built a whole facility to commit a legal homicide and that’s just what it is, my mind is very violent at this time.
“The only thing about it is, at that point in time, I have to wait until I get in the ring to really release because I can’t do it on the outside, it’d defeat the purpose.
“The baby’s got to eat, but when I do get in the ring, this is what I love about it, I’m able to release everything I’ve been feeling, everything I’ve been thinking, and get paid to do it.”
Since then he has twice failed to beat Fury, drawing their dramatic first bout in December 2018 before being convincingly beaten by the Brit in February last year.

In between he breezed past Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz.
Wilder and Fury were initially set to fight for a third time in Las Vegas this weekend, before there was an outbreak of Covid-19 within Fury’s camp.
The rivals will now fight again on October 9 instead, with a unification bout against Anthony Joshua finally on the horizon next year.
