Now, the 2019 Love Island star is 7-0 and in talks to fight YouTube sensation Paul, who is 4-0 as a boxer himself.

Respected trainer Peter, who coaches his son Hughie, is as old school as it comes and has one of the best boxing brains in the business.

But even he sees sense in Tommy, 22, fighting Paul, 24, but warned defeat would come with disastrous consequences.

Peter told talkSPORT: “To be honest, he is a young kid himself and he is learning, so him and Jake Paul is a good fight.

“Although Tommy is a professional boxer, he is still a baby in the sport, so he has a long way to go.

“I’m not really into YouTube boxing to be fair, but people want to see it, both lads will get paid well and good luck to them.”

But he added: “If he can’t beat Jake Paul, he needs to go and do something else. Practice dancing or something.”

Paul only turned pro in January 2020 and did so with a stoppage in the first round against online rival ‘AnEsonGib’.

He then knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.

But his biggest win to date came in August against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, on points over eight rounds.

On the undercard, Tommy beat Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, in what was a successful Stateside debut.

Afterwards, the celebrity rivals started talks for a fight by the end of the year.

If he can’t beat Jake Paul, he needs to go and do something else. Practice dancing or something.

And Tommy’s promoter Frank Warren revealed negotiations are progressing well with a deal nearing completion.

Warren told iFL TV: “At the moment we’re working through the terms, we’re quite close and I’m hoping we can get it over the line.

“It’s a great fight for Tommy. It’s a very lucrative fight for him. Financially, how can you not turn that down?

“I think he wins it. It’s captured everyone’s imagination, it’s all they were talking about out in the States.

“Hopefully, we will finish it off this week and we can move forward. It’ll be in late November, December.”

Frank Warren says Tommy Fury set to take on Jake Paul in £1m grudge match this December
