But his own coach Eddy Reynoso – who also corners Canelo Alvarez – would much rather they avoid stepping up in weight for PacMan.
Reynoso told Boxing Scene: “I really don’t like that fight.
“Manny Pacquiao has all that experience, it’s a fight at a heavier weight against bigger fighter.
“But in my role as a teacher, my job is to prepare him for these fights that he and the team accept.”
Garcia, 22, and Davis, 26, both promised they would face each other this year.
Reynoso reckons there is a far greater reward in that fight compared to against 42-year-old Pacquiao, who is coming to the end of his career.
He said: “The fight I like more is ‘Tank’ Davis.
“To me, it’s a far more interesting fight. They are at the same weight and their fight can exceed expectations.

“A fight between Ryan Garcia and Tank Davis can be the biggest fight in boxing.
“They are two of the biggest stars of this new generation. Manny Pacquiao is great, but he’s part of a past generation.
“The young fans of Ryan Garcia and young fans of Gervonta Davis are going to want to see that fight.”
