FLOYD MAYWEATHER’s showdown with Logan Paul is making a ‘mockery’ of boxing, according to Gary Russell Jr.
Mayweather, 44, is set to throw down with the social media superstar in an exhibition bout early on Monday morning.

The pair’s Miami melee has been slammed by boxing fans across the world, with many claiming it’s making the sport a laughing stock.
WBC featherweight king Russell Jr agrees with that notion, telling Fight Hype: “I’m not a fan of Floyd Mayweather.
“I’m not a fan of Floyd Mayweather at all. I think it’s a mockery to the sport.
“As a fighter that participates in the sport, I personally don’t like it. I don’t think Floyd is at any risk. He’s a real. He’s a fighter.
“This guy [Logan Paul] is a YouTuber.
“Granted, he can get lucky and hit Floyd and hurt him, but the odds of that sh*t is crazy. I don’t care with even the weight division. It won’t matter.

“Floyd Mayweather is a skilled fighter, and he’s going to bring that stuff in the ring with someone [Logan] that has nothing to do, knows nothing about boxing.”
Russell Jr isn’t a fan of exhibitions in general, adding: “It waters the sport down.
“They’re doing these exhibitions now, even with Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.
“I was all for that s**t, but then they said they can’t go for the knockout.
“I was like, ‘What the f**k, this is boxing. This is a barbaric sport.’ I understand why a lot of fans don’t like it and disagree.
“Someone is going to get hurt, one of these YouTubers. The right people ain’t getting hurt.
“Somebody is going to get hurt, get knocked unconscious, or put in a coma because they got in the ring with a real fighter.
“They weren’t skilled, they signed a waiver to make a little money, and it’s going to come back to bite them in their a**.”
Mayweather is set to earn upwards of £70million ($100m) for his second exhibition since his 2017 retirement, which he’s dubbed a ‘legalised bank robbery’.
During the ‘Inside Mayweather vs. Paul’ hype show, he said: “My nickname is Money for a reason.
“I worked extremely hard for years and years to get to a certain level. A level where we can start calling everything an event.
“I believe in working smarter, not harder.
“So if it’s something easy like [the Paul fight], a legalised bank robbery, I gotta do it. I have to do it.”
