BILLY JOE SAUNDERS reportedly pocketed a whopping £5.5million from his defeat by Canelo Alvarez.
The Athletic claims the British super-middleweight left Dallas with a wad of cash on Saturday despite being stopped in eight rounds.
Saunders put in a brave effort against Canelo but the Mexican was in the driving seat for most of the fight.
And a brutal uppercut saw Saunders suffer FOUR breaks in the bones around his eye, forcing his corner to throw in the towel.
Saunders has since undergone successful surgery to repair the damage done by Canelo.
But he won’t be too disappointed upon his return home after reportedly picking up a tasty purse.
Canelo has since claimed the fight was ‘easy money’ after meeting promoter Eddie Hearn in his dressing room.
But Saunders has vowed he will be back once he’s fully recovered.
Saunders wrote on Facebook: “Thanks everyone for the messages.
“Broken eye socket and broken cheekbone in three places.
