Future Spike students meet Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul idols

Istanbul, Turkey, January 29, 2020 – As many as two hundred young students of the Future Spike programme were given the opportunity to mingle with their role models from Eczacıbasi VitrA Istanbul women’s volleyball team on Tuesday.

The finalists of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship are putting in hard work to prepare for an intense schedule which includes both the CEV Champions League and Turkish League games in the coming weeks. The Orange and Whites had a nice boost to motivation as their young successors enthusiastically watched their training session and requested autographs and selfies.

The gathering took place in the context of the eighth edition of the Future Spike Development Tournament, which takes place from January 27 and 30. The tournament serves as a platform for young talents with 24 teams participating.

About the Future Spike programme

In 2016, Eczacıbasi Sports Club launched a new programme called ‘Future Spike’ in collaboration with ES Volleyball to expand its training programme for young girls. The club aims to introduce thousands of 6 to 13-year-old girls annually to the culture, spirit and discipline of sport and create opportunities to discover and train the future stars of volleyball.

Future Spike currently has 10 campuses around Turkey training 3,000 girls annually, and the target is to have 30 campuses in 11 cities training 5,000 girls annually by 2021. According to the club’s plans, as many as 3,000 young girls will be reached in the 2019-2020 season in eight different cities, to provide them with a quality volleyball training opportunities.
