FIVB President meets with President of Lega Pallavolo Serie A
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 22, 2020 – FIVB President, Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, welcomed the President of the Lega Pallavolo Serie A, Diego Mosna, at the FIVB headquarters this week.
Both leaders discussed the development of the Italian Volleyball League, with Lega Pallavolo Serie A the highest-level of men’s club competition in Italian volleyball. The two presidents also talked about the importance of streamlining the global events calendar.
After the meeting, Mr Diego Mosna said:
“We focused our discussion on the international calendar. President Graça and I are both convinced of the importance of the Italian clubs competing at continental and international level. Clubs in Italy want to maintain the quality they’ve reached in the past years, but they need to be balanced with the national and international schedules.
“I also stressed the importance of youth leagues; all clubs should be helped with investments by their National Federations, since they are building the future of the national teams.”
FIVB President Ary Graça said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome a great professional and my friend for the last 20 years, Diego Mosna, to the FIVB. We have shared similar experiences of running professional volleyball leagues and this was a key component of our conversation.
“Having been President of the Brazilian Volleyball League for 17 years, I truly understand the issues the clubs face and I am committed to continue working closely with the Italian Volleyball Federation and the professional leagues to ensure the best conditions for the athletes. I also used the opportunity to congratulate Mr Mosna and the clubs of the Italian league on the consistently great performances over the last 75 years.”
