Christenson keeps Modena in the hunt for Italian title

Micah Christenson is hoping to have more to celebrate in 2020

Modena, Italy, February 10, 2020 – Micah Christenson helped Modena keep up their chase at the top of the Italian Super League over the weekend and in doing so he celebrated extending his contract with the club from northern Italy.

The 26-year-old joined the club in 2018 and last week signed a three-year extension with Andrea Giani’s team.

The Hawaii-born setter finished second highest scorer with 12 points in Modena’s 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-19) win over Allianz Milano at the PalaSport Giuseppe Panini.

It means they remain third on 46 points, two behind new leaders Perugia and second-placed Civitanova.

Christenson’s USA teammate Matthew Anderson finished as highest scorer with 15 points. The pair were part of the USA squad that won bronze at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and they will be hoping their on-court understanding serves them well when the USA chase further Olympic success at Tokyo 2020.
