Istanbul, Turkey, February 7, 2020 – Serbia superstar Tijana Boskovic produced a breathtaking performance Thursday night in the European Champions League with her Turkish team of Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul, raising expectations for when she rejoins her country’s national team ahead of this year’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The 22-year-old opposite powered Eczacibasi to a dramatic 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-10) win over crosstown rivals Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul with a stunning attacking show a a total scoring achievement of 35 points. This included 33 kills from 62 swings for a 53% efficiency over the whole game. More striking was her tie-break attacking accomplishment of 7/8 for an amazing 88%.
Boskovic, who is now playing in Turkey for a fifth straight season was named Most Valuable Player of the game for contributing to her side clinching a ticket to the Champions League quarterfinals.
This adds to her numerous other MVP titles, including the latest FIVB World Championship in 2018, two European Championships in 2017 and 2019, as well as the 2016 FIVB Club World Championship.
All this certainly builds up the anticipation of her performances in the remainder of the Champions League and the domestic Turkish League, but also in Serbia’s quest to excell at the upcoming VNL and chase the most coveted and all-elusive Olympic gold medal at Tokyo 2020.
