Wolves joined by AC Milan in Luka Jovic transfer race as they eye Real Madrid striker as cover for injured Ibrahimovic

WOLVES reportedly face competition from AC Milan for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.

Jovic has emerged as an option for Nuno Espirito Santo but Milan fancy the Bernabeu flop as cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to AS.

The Rossoneri top the Serie A table as their quest for a first league title since 2011 gathers momentum.

Ibrahimovic has been lethal in front of goal but the 39-year-old has recently missed a number of games due to injury niggles.

Milan have managed to maintain their unbeaten record in his absence but fancy bolstering their ranks when the transfer window reopens next month.

Jovic has been a massive disappointment since his £55million switch from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019.

The Serbia international only found the back of the net on two occasions in his maiden campaign and has slipped further down the pecking order.

Jovic has not started a game for Zinedine Zidane’s team since October and is without a goal this season.

But Real chiefs are desperate to make their money back despite his wretched form, which could put off potential suitors.

The Athletic previously reported that the Spanish giants will only loan him out if there is a permanent agreement in place.

A £55m price tag is likely to be beyond Wolves’ budget.

Jimenez has been sidelined since a sickening clash of heads with David Luiz in last month’s 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium.

Wolves boss Santo has admitted the Mexican’s absence is “terrible” for his team.

He said: “It’s not just about what he does on the pitch, it’s about what he means for the squad.

“It’s about the confidence the players have in him, the belief that, until the last moment of a game, he will put the ball in the net.

“This takes time but we are overcoming that.”

Jimenez was at Molineux last night to watch his team-mates salvage a 1-1 draw against Tottenham thanks to Romain Saiss’ late header.
