West Ham stars Pablo Zabaleta, Carlos Sanchez and Jeremy Ngakia to leave club for free when contracts expire next week

WEST HAM have confirmed Pablo Zabaleta, Jeremy Ngakia and Carlos Sanchez will all leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30.

The Hammers trio are NOT on the list of retained players for the extended Premier League season.

The English top-flight is running well into the summer after action was halted for over three months amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Player contracts traditionally run until June 30 after the season’s usual May finish.

But clubs could agree short-term extensions to cover the end of the season with out-of-contract stars, however, the deadline to finalise those deals was June 23.

Former Man City defender Zabaleta was offered an extension by West Ham but an injury has prevented him from signing.

The 35-year-old made 80 appearances in three years after arriving from the Etihad on a free transfer in 2017.

Academy graduate Ngakia is also leaving the side after making five starts in 2020, including the defeat to Wolves on June 20.

The 19-year-old right-back and his agent refused to accept a longer deal at the club or even a short-term agreement, the Hammers confirmed.

In an official statement, West Ham said: “In line with our structure and policy, Jeremy was offered significantly improved terms to reward his breakthrough into the first-team squad this year, along with further contractual enhancements linked to his future progress and success.”

Sanchez, 34, has only started one league game this season and is being let go by the club.

The veteran Colombian international made 18 appearances in two seasons but was hampered by a serious knee injury suffered in his first year.

West Ham have lost 2-0 to both Wolves and Spurs since Project Restart and are 17th in the table – only superior goal difference keeps them out of the relegation zone as they are level on points with Bournemouth and Aston Villa below them.
