West Brom set to seal bargain £1m Cedric Kipre transfer from crisis-hit Wigan in boost to defensive options

WEST BROM are ready to seal a bargain deal for centre-half Cedric Kipre after being headed for talks about a Premier League dream move.

The defender was cleared to tie up the transfer after Wigan’s administrators accepted an offer in the region of £1million following days of haggling.

Kipre is expected to agree personal terms after becoming Albion’s first choice when Shane Duffy chose to join Celtic instead.

The powerful defender was outstanding for Latics last season and is being sold after pushing for the move.

Kipre, 23, is understood to have also had an offer from Blackburn.

The Paris-born star played almost 3,000 minutes of last season’s campaign, scoring two goals in 36 second-tier matches.

Wigan’s administrators will now face fresh pressure to drop their asking price for the club as another asset is sold and money is in the club’s coffers.

Latics will also try to tie up the £450,000 sale of Josh Windass to Sheffield Wednesday.

They want the money in a lump sun to let them pay off cash due to his former club Rangers.
