Filip Krovinovic and Matheus Pereira took an age on the set-piece to jeers from the Lions fans, which gave way to loud cheers at every failed attempt.

Eventually, with some help from the referee, Krovinovic was able to whip the ball into the box to fashion a chance for his side.

The Croat opened the scoring for the Baggies after 42 minutes and Dara O’Shea added a late second as they opened up some breathing room between themselves and second-placed Leeds.

Fans of the sides will count themselves lucky to get a game on as 90mph gale force winds wreak havoc on sporting fixtures.
