ROTHERHAM’S task of an FA Cup upset against Hull was dealt a huge blow when Adam Thompson was shown a straight red card for a horror ‘kung-fu’ tackle.
The League One side had just equalised against their Championship opponents when the right-back had a moment of madness on 24 minutes.

As the ball found Hull’s Keane Lewis-Potter on the left flank, his heavy touch allowed Thompson the opportunity to win the ball.
But the 27-year-old had just one thing in mind and flew into the challenge with his stud raised.
He was nowhere near the ball and instead caught the 18-year-old high on the right leg.
Lewis-Potter stayed on the ground in pain as the referee instantly blew for a foul before taking a minute to think of his next move.
He then pulled out a red card to send Thompson on his way for an early bath despite the host’s protests.
Hull took the lead on 16 minutes through Tom Eaves before Michael Smith grabbed the equaliser four minutes later.
The 10-men of Rotherham then went ahead against the run of play when Kyle Vassell scored a screamer just before half-time.
Eaves then grabbed his second of the game with 25 minutes to play before breaking Rotherham’s hearts in the final seconds of the contest.
The 27-year-old striker bagged his hat-trick when he was left unmarked from a corner to seal a 3-2 victory.
