Speaking to his 548k followers on social media, Garay said: “It is clear that I started 2020 badly.

“I have tested positive for coronavirus, I feel very well and now it only remains to pay attention to the health authorities, for now to be isolated.”

His wife – who sent fans wild when she posted a naked snap last year – posted a heartfelt comment on her hubby’s post.

Spanish TV presenter and model Tamara Gorro said: “With positivity my love.

“What annoys me the most is that I’m going to miss being together at home with you.”

Garay is the latest sports star to be struck down with the killer bug – which has caused 12 deaths in the UK.

But he is the first player in the Spanish top-flight to contract coronavirus.

Shortly after his announcement, Valencia revealed on social media that five positive cases of coronavirus have been detected from first-team players and technicians.

The statement adds: “All are in their homes in good health and with isolation measures.”

LaLiga, along with the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, have suspended play until further notice.

Barcelona have been put in quarantine and will continue training in their homes with specific work overseen by the club’s personal trainers.

And Real Madrid’s training ground was put on lockdown after a member of the basketball team tested positive for coronavirus.
