Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen wanted by Napoli and Ajax as Mourinho looks to sell before losing on free transfer

TOTTENHAM star Jan Vertonghen is reportedly wanted by Napoli and Ajax this month.

The Telegraph claims Jose Mourinho is willing to sell the 32-year-old centre-back after he entered the final six months of his Spurs contract.

The North Londoners would prefer to cash in now and sign an immediate replacement.

But it remains to be seen if Vertonghen fancies leaving Spurs, with teammate Toby Alderweireld recently extending his deal.

New Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso is said to be keen after replacing Carlo Ancelotti at the San Paolo.

The Italian giants have won just six of their 17 Serie A matches this season, conceding 22 goals in the process.

Kostas Manolas arrived from Roma in the summer for £32million but has failed to make much of an impact alongside Kalidou Koulibaly.

Ironically, the Senegalese ace has been tipped for a move to Tottenham.

And Mourinho may feel it prudent to explore a swap deal before the end of the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, Vertonghen’s former team Ajax are also reportedly eager on landing the experienced Belgian.

Daley Blind is out for an unknown period of time after being diagnosed with a heart condition.

And Vertonghen is seen as the ideal man to partner Argentina youngster Lisandro Martinez, who has excelled since arriving as a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt in the summer.
