Tottenham set for transfer battle with Man Utd for Emil Forsberg as RB Leipzig star’s agent calls Mourinho a ‘legend’

JOSE MOURINHO is reportedly ready to go to war with Manchester United and Everton over RB Leipzig’s Swedish star Emil Forsberg.

Ex-Man United boss Mourinho recently praised the Swede, 28, following Tottenham’s shock 1-0 defeat by Leipzig after the German side ran his side rampant.

It was Mourinho’s praise that sparked Forsberg’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, to repay the favour by hailing the Spurs boss.

He said: “It’s nothing that surprises me at all,

“Mourinho is a great legend who has worked with Victor Lindelof as well.

“Together with Victor, Forsberg is the biggest star in the national team and has caused total chaos in Leipzig.

Adding: “I’m not surprised I can say this; everyone will soon see what will happen to Emil Forsberg.”

Forsberg could prove to be a nifty acquisition for Tottenham as he is Mr Versatile, being able to operate both in midfield or on the left-flank.

The Swedish international has racked up nine goals and four assists this season in all competitions as Leipzig push for their first Bundesliga title – one point behind leaders Bayern Munich.

After falling out with manager Julian Nagelsmann, the Leipzig wide man has admitted he’s not happy at the club.

Forsberg told Bild: “Things aren’t going well. I don’t have to prove myself any more.

“I have a contract, but everyone knows that I dream of playing in another league.”

The Swede believes in his own ability to play in any division, telling the Guardian “I could see myself playing anywhere.

“Not to brag, but I feel I have the qualities.”

Forsberg signed for German side RB Leipzig in 2015 for a fee of around £3.33million from Malmo while they were competing in the second division.

The No10 is yet to win a trophy with Leipzig but has won both the domestic league and cup in his homeland Sweden.

Mourinho will be up against stiff competition in the race for Forsberg’s signature with Premier League rivals Man United and Everton also keen to sign the 28-year-old.
