Tottenham in talks over shock Alexander Sorloth transfer with Crystal Palace flop banging goals in for Trabzonspor

TOTTENHAM are in shock talks to bring Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth to White Hart Lane after his success at Trabzonspor.

Sorloth, 24, is currently still a Palace player but the Turkish side have an obligation to buy him if he plays 50 per cent of their matches this season.

The club can also trigger the clause prematurely after agreeing to take him on a two-year loan.

Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has revealed that Spurs are one of many clubs, including German side RP Leipzeg, that have approached them for Sorloth.

Speaking on the interest from Spurs he said: “Sorloth wants to go. But every player who wants to go, there is no world we say OK. Leipzig are interested and we meet with Tottenham.”

He didn’t rule out the possibility of the move and added: “We will act in Trabzonspor interests.”

Sorloth has been a success in Turkey since his loan move from Palace, netting 32 goals in all competitions last season.

He also won the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot with 24 goals in the process.

This is in stark contrast to his time at Palace where he didn’t score a single goal in sixteen appearances over a two-season period.

Since his re-invention, Spurs are looking to bring him back to the Premier League as they aim to bolster their front-line for the current season.

In previous seasons, there has been a reliance on Harry Kane’s to deliver which fans are not happy about.

Their desperate need for some more fire-power up-front was highlighted once again in their 1-nil loss against Everton in the opening game of the season.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho reassured fans that he is aware that they need new attacking options and is aiming to fix the problem.

He said: “Yes, I want, I need a striker, but I want to make it very, very clear that the club – the structure above me – knows that I need a striker and also wants a striker.

“Are we going to get one? I honestly believe so. For the balance of the squad, the team needs it because at this moment the squad is getting very balanced, with different options for different positions.”
