PEP’S REACTION
This is what Pep has to say to today’s defeat:
“The perfect scenario for them, to concede a goal after five or six minutes when we knew that Kane drops and Bergwijn and Son run in behind and we have to defend better and it was a perfect scenario for them and after that they defended so deep.”
JOSE’S ANALYSIS
Here are the full time thoughts of Jose Mourinho:
“It’s not me, I’d prefer the players to speak because they are the ones, they were fantastic.
“They gave everything, they followed a strategy and football sometimes, now more than ever, strategy plays an important part, and they were amazing.
“This guy Harry Kane represents the spirit of the other guys, the way he works for the team is the same way the others do it.
“It was very important to respect them, and not forget the team that they are.
“If we follow people speaking about them not being as good as before, if we follow the fake table because they have one match in hand then we would probably play in a different way.
“But against these guys we all know how Pep teams are and the quality of the players we defined the way to play and it was magnificent to see them do what they did, so super congratulations to the players.”
ACTION AREAS
Here’s a look at the full time action areas.
City dominated possession, and had 22 shots, compared to just 4 Tottenham shots, but in the end it is the home side that come away with the three points.
KEV’S REACTION
Kevin De Bruyne has this to say following the defeat:
“I think we played well but we missed that cutting edge.
“To keep Tottenham to about three or four chances that’s quite good, but yeah obviously if you’re not sharp enough in front of goal with what is happening lately then it’s tough.
“Obviously it’s been up and down with the players coming in and going out so it’s very difficult to come back from injuries and be sharp directly, so if there are a lot of changes, a lot of people coming in [and] coming out so it’s difficult to find the consistency.
“I think the first two thirds of the pitch we played really well, needs to be a little bit sharper but I guess that will come and hopefully sooner rather than later.”
LEADING FROM THE FRONT
Harry Kane already has nine assists this season for Spurs, after having just eight in his last three seasons combined.
HARRY’S THOUGHTS
Here are the thoughts from the man of the match Harry Kane:
“Fantastic performance, we knew it was obviously going to be a tough game, Man City are a great team who use the ball really well.
“But yeah we had a game plan to defend as a unit, in that kind of a mid block, obviously sometimes it went into a bit of a low block.
“I thought everyone worked their socks off today and yeah we took our chances.
“Obviously Sonny with a great finish early on and then we knew that in the second half that the chances would be available, thankfully we took one towards the end.”
