Real Madrid could leave Bernabeu for tiny 6,000-seater Alfredo Di Stefano if fans are banned amid coronavirus pandemic

REAL MADRID are reportedly considering moving to the 6,000-capacity Alfredo Di Stefano if the season is continued behind closed doors.

The Spanish giants could temporarily ditch their beloved Bernabeu stadium to allow the £500million redevelopment to take place more quickly.

Marca claim Madrid are now waiting for permission from LaLiga officials to play their remaining home games at the ground.

The Alfredo Di Stefano, which is on the outskirts of the Spanish capital, has the same pitch dimensions as the Bernabeu.

It is used by Madrid’s reserve side Castilla, but the move will allow building work to commence quicker than planned at the Bernabeu.

LaLiga have confirmed they will not deem the season null and void due to coronavirus as it would cost them £840million.

League president Javier Tebas admitted a number of scenarios are being discussed including finishing the season behind closed doors.

Spain remains on lockdown, but Madrid have been allowed to continue their £500million revamp of the Bernabeu.

The Spanish side will install a retractable roof, a 360-degree video screen that goes around the entire ground and build spacious leisure and entertainment facilities.

But the capacity of the ground will be reduced from 80,243 to 80,242.
