PREMIER League winner Danny Simpson has been branded a “trash bag” by his daughter’s mum – years after the shamed footballer was convicted of trying to throttle her.

The pair had a turbulent four-year relationship and Simpson was convicted of assaulting Stephanie five years ago.

On Tuesday, Stephanie, 32, made a furious dig at the 33-year-old defender.

She posted on Instagram to her almost 20,000 followers: “Choose wisely who you decide to have children with.

“Co parenting with someone who lacks values, morals and the intelligence to assist you in life decisions for your child is a special kind of hell.”

She then followed it up with: “Constantly torn between protecting my brand and letting the world know what a trash bag my daughter’s father is.”

Simpson – who was part of the Leicester City side which won the Premier League in 2016 – was convicted in 2015 of assaulting Stephanie and was handed 300 hours of community service and a £900 fine.

During a 999 call, Stephanie could be heard screaming for him to get off her and a cop reportedly walked into their home to find the defender straddling her with his hands around her neck.

Stephanie now works as a therapist and has worked with Women’s Aid to help victims with abusive sports stars and their partners.

The defender became a dad again earlier this year after reality telly star Melissa Reeves gave birth to a baby girl.

The Ex On The Beach star gave birth in May following a difficult labour.

She posted on Instagram at the time: “24/05/2020 My world changed forever, my baby girl arrived right on her due date, words can’t describe how in love with this little angel I am. I feel so happy and blessed.

“I was in labour for three days, then we had to opt for a C-section because it turns out she is one big baby, she’s 8lb 11!!”

Simpson remains a free agent since leaving Huddersfield Town after making 25 appearances in all competitions for the Championship side last season.

The 33-year-old has played over 400 matches so far in his career.

The defender broke through the Manchester United youth ranks before making eight appearances for the first team.

Simpson had loan spells at Belgian side Antwerp, Sunderland, Ipswich Town, and Blackburn Rovers.

He joined Newcastle United, helping the side gain promotion back to the Premier League in the 2009/10 season.

The defender was part of the QPR side which won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs under Harry Redknapp.

He then joined Leicester and was with the Foxes until 2019, before spending a season at Huddersfield Town.

Simpson has been approached for comment.
