Players returned to their training grounds today after testing revealed only six stars and staff at Premier League clubs had tested positive for the killer virus.

Speaking on the Lockdown Tactics podcast with Robert Snodgrass and Kris Boyd, England star Rose, 29, said: “I’m dying to get back to football but just with the things that are happening right now, people are going through this coronavirus pandemic a lot worse than me, I don’t want to be complaining about everything.

“Just off the fact that people are suggesting we should go back to football, like we’re guinea pigs or lab rats.

“We’re going to experiment this phase and see if it works or not.

“I can just imagine people at home saying, ‘Well they earn that amount of money so they should be going back’.”

Rose previously expressed his dismay at restarting the season while deaths remain so high.

On Instagram, he said: “It’s a f****** joke, I’m not even going to lie.

“The Government is saying bring football back because it’s going to boost the nation’s morale, I don’t give a f*** about the nation’s morale.

“People’s lives are at risk, you know what I mean?

“Football shouldn’t even be spoken about coming back until the numbers have dropped massively. It’s b*******.

“We’ll see, I think I’m getting tested on Friday, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

“I listened to the announcement, no football until June 1st or something, I don’t even pay attention to any of that.

“I’m sad that people are getting sick and being affected. Football should be the last of things that need to be sorted.

“I think everyone will get tested as soon as they get back and we’ll see what happens.

“I just hope the numbers stay low so we can get back to normal as soon as possible.”
