Painful moment Tammy Abraham slides into post groin-first against Tottenham as Chelsea ace ‘has Phil Babb moment’

THIS is the excruciating moment Tammy Abraham did a Phil Babb during Chelsea’s win over Spurs.

The Blues striker was attempting to convert Mason Mount’s low cross from the right but ended up making contact with the wrong kind of ball.

Abraham’s momentum took him forward and, with the post rapidly approaching, he opened his legs and clattered into it groin-first.

It was against Chelsea that former Liverpool star Babb suffered the same fate back in October 1998.

Babb was trying to stop Pierluigi Casiraghi’s shot from going in when he smashed into the woodwork, legs akimbo.

Insult was added to injury when Casiraghi’s effort hit the net as Babb lay on the floor in agony.

It was bad news for Abraham too because his shot was saved by Hugo Lloris.

Viewers felt a bit of sympathy for Abraham, but mostly rubbed it in.

One said: “Phil Babb moment for @tammyabraham. Don’t cough lad.”

Another comment read: “Tammy Abraham goes full Phil Babb. Never go full Phil Babb.”

A fellow user posted: “Abraham just went full Phil Babb on us. That meat and two veg got smashed up by the post!”

One comment read: “I can’t believe Tammy Abraham smacked his balls in the post. Must have hurt. Ouch!”

Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso put Chelsea 2-0 up before Antonio Rudiger’s own goal in the 89th minute made it a nervy finish for boss Frank Lampard.
