Oxford have confirmed there were two positive results returned after Thursday’s round of coronavirus testing
The affected players will now be forced to self-isolate away from the squad for ten days as a precaution, despite showing no symptoms.
A club statement read: “Oxford United can confirm that two people tested positive during the latest round of Covid-19 tests.
“All first-team players and staff had previously tested negative in two earlier tests.
“But Thursday’s tests came back with two positive results and those involved will now be off-site and asked to self-isolate for ten days as a precaution.
“Neither had symptoms and can exercise independently within the current guidelines while they are away from the club.
“The medical team will be in contact with them on a day-to-day basis.
“All players will still be completing their daily medical questionnaire and temperature checks, with regular testing continuing.”
The dates for the League One and League Two play-off games were announced earlier on Friday after it was revealed the seasons would be cancelled.
The final standings in both leagues were both worked out based on a points per game system – despite Ipswich’s “insane” suggestion.
