MANCHESTER CITY’S on-loan defender Pedro Porro has apologised for calling a police officer ‘backwards’ after been fined by cops for breaking Spain’s coronavirus lockdown.
The right-back, 20, currently at Spanish side Valladolid, was fined by local authorities after he was stopped around nine miles from his home in a town outside the city, during quarantine.

Pedro Porro was fined after being caught out and about by Spanish police
Spain has been in lockdown for over one week as it is one the countries most affected by coronavirus.
The incident led to Porro making a post slamming the cops who fined him saying: “I just went to a shop and have been fined for going from my house to the Valladolid centre.
“I’ll just mention I live in a very small town.
“I think it’s nice and good to be fined if I am not doing what the government asks but one thing does take away from the other.
“I only went to buy something and I ended up getting fined.
“Having said that, I am very angry at how some people talk to you and address you with disrespect.
“I only say that nobody is above anyone else and you can go further by speaking respectfully. It seems some people don’t know what this means.”

Porro briefly described the incident saying the police asked him “What the hell are you doing here?” and ended by saying “they did everything backwards and especially, I will repeat, disrespecting me.”
Despite Porro’s initial anger, he issued a second statement apologising for the incident saying he wants to “publicly apologise” for his initial comments.
He explained: “It didn’t help that my childhood home appears as my residence on my identification and the agents didn’t understand what I was doing there”, which led them to fine him which he will “obviously pay.”
Porro is originally from Extremadura in southern Spain.
However, he is currently living in the municipality of Boecilla in the province of Valladolid in Spain’s north west.
He went on to say: “I have made a mistake today and hope that it serves to show other people they should think twice before leaving their home if it is not for something out of their hands.”
Porro ended his final message praising the emergency services in Spain saying: “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to the agents of the Valladolid Local Police who stopped me for the tension at the time and for the words I said after.
“They, like all of the state security forces and organisations, were only doing their job, which is to protect all of us.”
Porro was sent to Valladolid on a loan-deal in August 2019, and had made 15 appearances for the side before all Spanish competitions were suspended until further notice to stop the spread of COVID-19.
His loan deal is set to finish in June of this year.
Spain has remained on lockdown for over one week and is one of the most affected countries by the virus with a reported 39,673 cases leading to 2,696 deaths.
