He was immediately given oxygen and underwent surgery in the early hours of Monday morning.
But given the delicate nature of the injury, no timescale has yet been put on his return.
Ryan Mason was forced to retire after suffering a similar incident while playing for Hull City in 2017.
But Nuno, 46, is remaining optimistic over Jimenez, 29, being able to resume his career.
He said: “If you ask me personally, I want him and I am positive he is going to come back.
“Now our real concern is that he recovers totally.
“After that we will have time. In these situations, it has to do a lot with the evolution of the player, how he feels, but now I’m positive because the first days are so important.
“This is what the doctor insists to me – the first days are crucial.
“He was really well taken care of on the pitch and during the journey in the ambulance.
“There was not even a moment when he was not receiving oxygen so this is what determines the next steps to take.
“Now he is recovering, he is going back home, and after that we will see.”
The Wolves boss also joined Gunners chief Mikel Arteta in backing calls for concussion substitutions.
He added: “It makes sense and I know there are conversations. I speak on a daily basis with our club doctor Matt Perry and something is going to happen naturally.
“I have no doubts that everyone involved in the game – players, managers, referees and fans – are supportive of the concussion substitution.”
