SAMIR NASRI has ripped into France boss Didier Deschamps and claimed Pep Guardiola would bring a better balance to the squad.
The midfielder, who played under the Spaniard briefly at Manchester City, retired from international football back in 2014 when he was just 27 years old.
Samir Nasri has continued his war of words with France coach Didier Deschamps
Despite a hugely successful club career, Nasri’s international tenure was marred by a series of public fallouts with France boss Deschamps.
And despite the 51-year-old guiding Les Bleus to victory in Russia, Nasri would like to see Guardiola appointed as his country’s next coach.
He said during a live Instagram chat: “I am happy that [France] won the 2018 World Cup, but there are some flaws.
“[Deschamps] can construct three teams of a very, very good level and I have the right not to like it.
“Look, I have friends who play for the national team. They deserved to win the World Cup, but put [Pep] Guardiola in [charge of] the French team and you will see how they will play. We would enjoy it.”
Nasri was sent out on loan to Sevilla shortly after Guardiola made his move to the Etihad, and is currently playing his trade at Belgium outfit Anderlecht.
But the former Arsenal star expressed his annoyance that he was omitted from the 2014 World Cup, while also digging Deschamps for leaving Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa out.
He added: “I don’t understand why Benzema did not play at Euro 2016 or the 2018 World Cup.
“I don’t understand why I did not participate in the 2014 World Cup.
“I also don’t understand why Hatem Ben Arfa was not selected for Euro 2016 after his season with Nice.”
