MK Dons boss Russell Martin set to target ex-Rangers team-mate Graham Dorrans from Dundee

MK DONS boss Russell Martin is set to target former team-mate Graham Dorrans.

The Dundee midfielder signed a one-year deal at Dens Park in September after missing a year of football at Rangers.

It’s understood there is a clause in Dorrans’ deal which allows the contract to be broken in January, although Dundee believe they have it weighted in their favour.

Martin, who played with Dorrans at Norwich and Scotland as well as at Ibrox, wants the 32-year-old to join him in Milton Keynes this month.

The former centre-half took over from Paul Tisdale in November and immediately called time on his playing career to focus fully on being a manager.

His side are currently hovering just above the relegation zone in League One so Martin wants to add experience to his midfield for the second half of the season.

And now Dorrans, who has played 14 times for Dundee since joining, has proved his fitness after a long layoff Martin wants to be reunited with his old team-mate for the battle against the drop.

Meanwhile, Rangers will face Uzbekistani Super League champions Lokomotiv Tashkent during their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

The Light Blues are heading to the world-renowned Nad al Sheba Sports Complex from January 6 to 12 to be put through their paces ahead of the second half of the season.

The match will be the first ever meeting between the pair with Tashkent boasting 11 full international players.

And Gers boss Steven Gerrard expects the game to provide the perfect test for his men ahead of their return to Scotland.

He told Rangers’ official website: “The match will be an important part of our preparations for the second half of the season.

“We expect it to be a competitive friendly and good test for our squad.”
