MIKEL ARTETA has made the worst start of any manager in Arsenal’s entire history – despite overseeing the impressive draw at Chelsea on Tuesday night.
The Gunners fought valiantly with ten men at Stamford Bridge to secure a 2-2 draw, thanks to Hector Bellerin’s late strike.
Arteta has the worst record of any Arsenal boss through six games, including predecessors Emery and Wenger

But having dropped two more points, Arteta has now earned just seven points in his first six Premier League games.
That tally is joint-lowest, level with Billy Wright – but Arteta is bumped to the bottom spot (out of 20) having won just one of his first six, in the 2-0 victory against Manchester United on January 1.
Aside from that, the Spaniard has led his side to draws against Chelsea, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
The home defeat by Chelsea on December 29 is Arteta’s sole loss in the Premier League so far.
Unai Emery, the man Arteta replaced in the Emirates hotseat, enjoyed a flying start to life at the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain chief picked up 12 points from his first six games.
That tally is one more than club legend Arsene Wenger (11) after he replaced Bruce Rioch (12), then at Highbury.
The runaway leader, though, is Tom Whittaker – who won five of his first six league games in charge of the club after taking over in June 1947.
Emery and Rioch are joint-second on 12 points, along with Don Howe, George Swindin and William Elcoat.
But Arteta shouldn’t be criticised for his slow start to life at Arsenal.
The current boss is attempted to create a new culture at the Emirates and is doing so with a sub-par squad inherited from the Emery era.
Arteta will need time – and backing in the next few transfer windows – in a bid to truly put his stamp on the Gunners as a boss.
