KYLIAN MBAPPE is reportedly “very flattered” that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp phoned his dad ahead of a potential summer swoop.
The Liverpool chief is a long-standing admirer of the French striker and is now hoping to beat Real Madrid to his signature.
Jurgen Klopp called Kylian Mbappe’s dad to discuss a potential transfer for his son to Liverpool
Last month Le10 Sport in France reported that Klopp had phoned Wilfried Mbappe to gauge whether his World Cup-winning son would be interested in a move to Anfield.
And they now claim that the move by Klopp was well received by the PSG star.
The high-flying forward could slot in to the European champions perfectly, should Sadio Mane decide to jump ship at the end of the season – with Real Madrid chief Zizou a huge fan of the Senegal star.
Mbappe moved to PSG from Monaco in 2017 and is under contract until 2022.
An eye-watering price tag of around £250million has been touted for the PSG marksman, who has banged in 90 goals in 120 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions, including 30 in 33 this season.
But transfer fees are set to tumble following the coronavirus crisis, casting doubt over megabucks moves in the coming window.
Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a member of European Parliament, claimed Mbappe’s value could fall by almost £150m as clubs are unable to recover cash due to the deadly bug.
The high-flying Reds will face stiff competition from Los Blancos, who had almost agreed the youngster’s transfer before Covid-19 struck.
The 21-year-old has long-been linked with a switch to the Bernabeu, and Zidane has made no secret of his desire to sign the hotshot.
However, Les Parisiens are thought to be desperate to hold on to their golden boy.
The marksman is believed to have been offered a staggering £600,000-a-week contract to remain in the French capital.
But according to Spanish news outlet AS, Mbappe will only pen a new deal if a clause is inserted allowing him to move to Madrid should Real match PSG’s asking price.
