Maurizio Sarri facing Juventus sack with chiefs calling for Max Allegri to return after horror Hellas Verona defeat

MAURIZIO SARRI could reportedly be sacked by Juventus and replaced with former boss Max Allegri.

The Bianconeri blew a 1-0 advantage to lose at Hellas Verona on Saturday, their third defeat of the Serie A campaign.

Things got worse when Inter bounced back from two-down to defeat Milan 4-2 last night to overtake Juventus at the top of the table.

And with Lazio only a point behind, the pressure is mounting on the Turin giants as they attempt to win a ninth straight title.

Sarri’s style at Napoli won him many admirers, but there is little sign of the quick passing he thrives on within the Juve side.

Despite only taking charge last summer after leaving Chelsea, La Repubblica claims a group within the club’s hierarchy are calling for Allegri’s return.

It is even reported president Andrea Agnelli has failed to be convinced by Sarri.

Allegri is still technically under contract at Juventus even though he left in June after penning a deal until 2020.

He led them to five-consecutive Scudettos during his time in charge before leaving to undertake a break at the end of last season.

That means the Old Lady could re-call him – but it remains to be seen whether he would want to return.

The 52-year-old has been linked with a host of top jobs across Europe.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were rumoured to be keen along with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

But Allegri was determined to take a year off from the game.

However he may feel the chance to return to his old role in the summer would be an offer too good to refuse.

Aaron Ramsey could be sold by Juventus in summer only a year after signing from Arsenal
