Marcelo Bielsa goes on 41-MINUTE rant on why Leeds were better than Man Utd… despite losing match 6-2

MARCELO BIELSA has launched a passionate, 41 minute rant defending Leeds’ style of play, and insisting that they were ‘superior’ to Manchester United.

The Elland Road outfit have instantly become the Premier League’s great entertainers this season, going to toe-to-toe with even the division’s top sides.

But they have come unstuck defensively, conceding 30 goals in just 14 games upon their top flight return – including six in a 6-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

Asked in his latest press conference how he could improve his side’s defence, however, he lashed out at those trying to analyse the performance.

He said: “The questions directed at the players tries to weaken the style of play we have. Suggesting to them whether they would ask me to change my style of play.

“Having revised the game, and the real reasons of how we lost this game, they’re not taken into account. This is not something new as media platforms, journalists, can only analyse results.

“Normally, when there is adversity, what you guys do is try to weaken those facing adversity or to ridicule the style of play of a team.”

And the Argentine, 65, even went as far as to suggest that his team had outperformed the Red Devils in several areas.

He continued: “To respond, I have to take the base of the last game. I can tell you the data we collected from the last game.

“From a physical aspect, Manchester United played their best game of the season and Leeds were superior in this aspect.

“In possession, we were superior, which does not signify anything, but within a context it starts taking some value. There was no clear dominance in the game.”

The Leeds boss then doubled down on sticking with his side’s adventurous style of play.

He added: “You asked how we attack, but defend better. What you are proposing is to abandon ingenuity and allow them to be superior to us.”

The Whites currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, seven points above the relegation zone, ahead of upcoming matches against sides with vastly different philosophies to them in Burnley, West Brom and Tottenham.
