Marc-Andre ter Stegen in talks over new £6m-a-year Barcelona deal but ‘tempted’ by Bayern Munich transfer offer

BARCELONA have offered Marc-Andre ter Stegen a new £6million-a-year contract but the stopper is tempted by an offer from Bayern Munich, according to reports.

The Catalan giants are eager to make the German their number one stopper for years to come but face competition from the Bundesliga champions.

SunSport reported in December how Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus were keeping tabs on the goalkeeper ahead of a potential move.

But nothing materialised in January and Barca have moved to tie the 27-year-old down long term to prevent him leaving in the summer, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The imposing stopper still has two years left to run on his deal in Catalonia, but the new contract on the table would see him stay until 2024 bagging £115,000-a-week.

Negotiations are said to have stalled because of coronavirus but Nou Camp hierarchy are reportedly pushing the player’s agent for a decision regardless.

Interest from Bayern in his homeland is also said to be “tempting” the stopper with the prospect of replacing Manuel Neuer hard to ignore.

The German giants are said to be keeping their eye on keepers after it emerged Neuer is reportedly ready to quit the Allianz.

Earlier this month, Chelsea were also said to be ready to sign ter Stegen as they look for a replacement for out of favour Kepa.

Ter Stegen signed from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014 and has been a key player at the Nou Camp since succeeding Claudio Bravo as the club’s No1 two years later.

Earlier this year, it emerged Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu wants ter Stegen and Lionel Messi both to have signed new deals before the 2021 presidential election.
